Pizza is great! The restaurant is housed in an old fire station which gives it a neat feel. You cut the pizza with scissors which is genius. The staff is friendly and the beer is cold. You order at the counter, which is somewhat awkward, or you can order and eat at the bar (much better). The Drunken horse pizza is pictured here. Don’t forget to ask for chili sauce!

Pompieri Pizza is an excellent choice for lunch in Downtown Durham. One of my favorite items on the menu is the Tomato Basil Soup…it’s pretty fantastic. The pizza is great and authentic. The decor and ambiance are excellent.

This place has a lot of history to it. But history and decor aside, the pizzas are good but not great. They are light and my tummy appreciates that. Don’t get the arancini, I found it tasteless. They have great beer and wine choices. On multiple instances on the same visit, I found the folks at the pay counter to be less considerate to attend to me. On the whole, a decent experience but wished it was better.

Good Sicilian pizza in an old fire house in downtown Durham. Fresh ingredients. Inventive combos on their pies. Worth a visit.
